I’m so glad I began the Life Lessons series, especially in audiobook form, and I will definitely be on the lookout for the next release. The smooth, easy delivery makes for a pleasurable listen, and the narrator’s style brings the story and characters to life. While the story alone is great, I also really enjoy the narration in Breaking Cover. There were multiple surprising moments in Breaking Cover, and I became increasingly caught up in the story and case. I also really enjoyed the suspenseful elements. I love how this series combines tropes, including the parenting roles both men are involved in and how that affects their daily lives. There are no magic fixes or easy choices for Tony or Mac in Breaking Cover, and it makes the story that much more believable and kept me invested in these men’s story and relationship progression. Once again, I appreciated that the author stuck to the characters’ personalities rather than taking the easy way out. Breaking Cover melds a romance between out teacher, Tony, and a closeted homicide detective, Mac, with a suspenseful murder investigation involving both men. As it follows an established couple and the continuation of their story, this is best read in order rather than as standalones. 4.25 stars- This series keeps getting betterīreaking Cover is the second book in the Life Lessons series.
